3/22/10 Well, it is a Tuesday. And it is a YouTube video. But this is not a YouTube Tuesday. But... I guess if you want to get technical about it, it does match all the important criteria of being a YouTube Tuesday. However, since it's not officially sanctioned by the YouTube Tuesday committee, it can only be considered an Unofficial YouTube Tuesday. So here you go, an Unofficial YouTube Tuesday vid of Jessarae singing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles. Great cover of a great song.
And while we have your attention, tonight Jessarae is playing in New York at the WhyHunger Charity Benefit for the Cure. Our own Jessarae is now the youngest ambassador for WhyHunger, whose list of ambassadors includes Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Michael McDonald, Carlos Santana and many others. All of us here at Jessarae.com are very proud to be part of this tremendous effort.
3/09/10
Jessarae was back in Sacramento today and was invited back to sing a few songs on his favorite morning TV show, Good Day Sacramento. Check out the two videos in the player below. (The first video is from his previous appearance, skip to the second video to see the newest performance)
2/27/10
Jessarae has been busy lately and we've got the pictures to prove it. Below are a couple of photo albums from some of his most recent appearances. Directly below are some images form from his performance at the Olympics in Vancouver, and below that are some pics from his performance at the House of Blues for Chelsea Staub's Harmonies for Haiti benefit.
2/17/10
Jessarae will be performing live right here on his website today at 6pm (Pacific time). See you then!
This upcoming Thursday (2/11/10) Jessarae will be playing at the House of Blues in LA at a wonderful event called Harmonies for Haiti: A Good Time for a Good Cause hosted by Chelsea Staub. Please come out and help if at all possible. For more information please visit the House of Blues website.
2/1/10
This morning on The 10! Show in Philadelphia Jessarae did it again...
1/15/10
Jessarae was on Good Day Sacramento this morning and did, well, he did what he always does. He impressed...
1/04/10 The beginning of a new year (and a new decade) always makes one think of what lies around the corner. Will this year be better than last year? Will my laptop continue to produce a burning smell? Will I get fatter? Thinner? Taller? Will my loved ones and I be happy? Will this really be the end of YouTube Tuesdays?
So many questions to ponder, but the good thing is we all have 365 days to sort it out. But in the meantime Jessarae would like to suggest that It'll Be Alright.
Happy New Year Everybody!
12/23/09 Wow. It's Week 19 of Jessarae's YouTube Tuesday and it's hard to believe that there is just one more week left of this fun little experiment. Thank you all for taking part and we feel blessed to have been a part of your Tuesday's for the past months. In fact, we always feel Blessed to Be With You...
OK, bad puns aside, we all hope that you all have a great and safe Christmas and holiday. See you next week!
12/15/09 Week 18 of YouTube Tuesday is "Ain't No Sunshine (When She's Gone)", originally recorded by Bill Withers. And if you've been paying attention to the weather lately, you know that there ain't no sunshine when she's here either. Whoever "she" is, "she" doesn't necessarily control the weather as much as Bill Withers would have liked you to believe because it's been a cold, rainy and cloudy week. But that's perfect weather for lighting some candles, sitting by the fireplace and singing a beautiful rendition of this 1971 classic.
edit: OK, so Jessarae just explained to me what a metaphor is. Apparently, "Ain't No Sunshine (When She's Gone)" is a love song. It has absolutely nothing to do with a woman who has the ability to affect the weather and/or other atmospheric conditions. Sorry for the confusion.
12/08/09 One of the great things about having a brother is the ability to blame pretty much anything and everything on them. So Mom's mad because you left the toilet seat up? Blame your brother. Dad's mad because you drank all the juice and put the empty bottle back in the fridge? Blame your brother. Everybody is upset because YouTube Tuesday didn't go up until Wednesday? Yup, that's right... blame your brother.
Week #17 of YouTube Tuesday is a Jessarae special mash-up of two songs, James Blunt's "You're Beautiful and "Father and Son" written by Cat Stevens. Another great video with a special set of out-takes at the end. And if you don't like videos with out-takes, Jessarae would just like to say that - that's right - he blames his brother.
12/01/09 Week 16 of YouTube Tuesdays is here and this week's video is all about winners! This song, "You Paint My Life", was written for Maddie A., who won Week #12's contest. And also, the TWO winners of the "Jessarae will come to YOUR hometown and sing especially for YOU" contest (we really should have come up with a better name for that contest...) are announced. That's THREE winners for ONE video. I challenge you to find ANY other videos on YouTube with a 3-1 winner/video ratio. And no, videos of Oprah giving out cars to her studio audience don't count because... well, because she's Oprah.
11/24/09 Things to be thankful for:
• Tennis balls
• Having a family that drops a lot of food on the floor at Thanksgiving.
• Jessarae's YouTube Tuesdays (it's week 15 already?)
• Deadline extensions for awesome contests.
• Tennis balls
• "My Love"
• Tennis balls
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
Woof!
11/17/09 So we have YouTube Tuesday's (of which this is Week #14), and now apparently Jessarae has decided to take it a step further and have "Contest Wednesday's" because (yup, you guessed it) he's doing another contest. And this one is a DOOZIE. Seriously, this contest requires luggage, travel-sized bottles of toothpaste and the possible use and/or acquiring of frequent flyer miles. Are you curious yet about what I'm talking about? Then check out the video.
But as long as we're adding special meaning to everyday of the week, I'd like for formally request a "Dog Park Thursday" and a "Fire Hydrant Exploration Friday". And maybe a "Tummy Rub Sunday" would be nice, too.
11/10/09 It's Week #13 of YouTube Tuesday and this is the week where Jessarae announces the winner of the "I'm Going to Write a Song For YOU!" contest, the contest where Jessarae picks a YouTube or Facebook friend and writes a song especially for them. Alright, are you ready? Drumroll please..... So the winner is...! wait, where that piece of paper go? The one with the name of the winner on it, it was right here just a second ago. You what? ...No, that was NOT a napkin. It was the name of the winner. Yeah, OK, so it was technically a napkin, but he wrote the winner's name on it, so it was more that just a napk... yes, I do understand how messy a chili-cheese burger can be but... wait, here it is. Oh jeez what a mess. OK, so I can make out an 'M', and I think that's a 'D'. That might be an 'A'... or a smiley face... ahh, this is just gross.
Well, if your name has an 'M' and maybe a 'D', and quite possibly an 'A' in it (or a smiley face), then you may have won the "I'm Going to Write a Song For YOU!" contest. I guess you'll just have to check out the video to be sure. :)
11/03/09 It's been three days since Halloween and as you can see from Jessarae's YouTube Tuesday video, the sugar rush is still in full effect. There are M&M wrappers almost six inches deep from my water bowl all the way to Jessarae's bedroom door. Once you get beyond the door, it becomes a dangerous mix of Snickers, Whoppers, Starbursts and Zagnut wrappers that can cause a person to... well, just see for yourself.
Oh, and you wanted another contest? Well we got that too.
Trick AND Treat!
10/27/09 Kobe Bryant may have won 4 NBA Championships, but when it came to last week's Jessarae YouTube contest, Kobe wasn't even in the top three. Seriously, the competition was that fierce. I know it was pre-season and all, but Kobe Bryant looked way out of shape when compared to NatWolffYankeeluver1, who was already in mid-season form. NatWolffYankeeluver1 (if that is her real name) won a signed "Damaged Heart" EP and a Jessarae t-shirt. Way to go, NatWolffYankeeluver1! (...seriously, that can't be her real name, can it?)
Anyway, Week #11 is dedicated to, ahem... NatWolffYankeeluver1 (real name in dispute). Jessarae was going to write a song especially for the winner, but he couldn't come up with a word that rhymed with NatWolffYankeeluver1, so this week Jessarae sings an a capella version of Who's Loving You by Michael Jackson. So this one is for you, NatWolffYankeeluver1!
edit: OK, so it turns out that NatWolffYankeeluver1's real name is Mary, and there are actually a lot of words that rhyme with Mary. Words like berry and merry and very. Probably could have written a good song after all. :) Congrats again, Mary!
10/20/09 It's Week #10? Already? No... really? Wow. Well shouldn't we celebrate somehow? I mean, we are half-way through the "20 videos in 20 weeks" project. There really should be a prize or something, don't ya think? I just wish that somebody here at Jessarae HQ had thought of a way to commemorate this milestone. I mean, c'mon, ten weeks of great videos and nobody could think of a way to make it - you know - a little extra special?
We'll get to the bottom of this little oversight, but in the meantime check out Jessarae's latest video, Uh-Oh, which is a song Jessarae wrote and recorded for his "Damaged Heart" EP. I just wish I knew how to get a copy of that EP...
10/13/09 It's Tuesday and we all know what that means... YOUTUBE TUESDAY! Week #9 is the the first video where Jessarae has enlisted the help of a rhythm section. However, the rhythm section happens to be the Pacific Ocean, which is perfect because this week's song is the classic Sea of Love. This song has been covered by everyone from Iggy Pop to Tom Waits but it has never sounded quite like this.
10/06/09 After a week of being sick, Jessarae is back with YouTube Tuesday! Week #8 is a cover of the Weezer hit Say It Ain't So. While the irony of having a chest cold for a week then doing a song by "Weezer" may not be lost on some, rest assured it is only a coincidence and any rumors that next week's song is going to be a Soul Coughing cover are completely untrue. ;)
Also, the folks at Major League Baseball can't get enough of Jessarae. Check out the MLB entertainment pages and there are three Jessarae segments on the front page.
So here it is... WEEK #8!!!
(keep getting better, J. - Drake.)
9/29/09
So we've got some good news and we've got some bad news. Which do you want first? ...the bad news? Alright then: Jessarae is sick. Seems he caught a bug that's been going around and the doctor has ordered him to stay in bed and gave specific orders of "No YouTubing". OK, maybe he didn't say that, but Jessarae definately is laying in bed slurping the chicken soup, and he should be back up on his feet in no time.
But here's the good news. Jessarae was featured on Major League Baseball's website (MLB.COM)
for his amazing rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" that he performed for the Lancaster Barnstormers game last week. This is great stuff, check it out. Also, there's an article about Jessarae at TwistMagazine.com, which includes a couple of other videos. Great interview there also.
So for a guy who's taking a sick day, he sure is putting out a lot of videos. :) Be back next week with a brand new one.
9/22/09
Question: What travels at 550 miles per hour while strolling through the park, and sits in the grass yet is 10,000 feet in the air? Answer: The Week #7 video from Jessarae's YouTube Tuesdays, that's what. This week Jessarae performs his own song Damaged Heart, and he makes some friends along the way. Special thanks goes out to Virgin Air seat neighbor Amy, and to the dancing curly haired little girl in Central Park.
9/15/09
This coming Saturday Jessarae not only opens for the Lancaster Barnstormers baseball team at in Lancaster, PA, but he is also playing after the game with an amazing fireworks show. So for Week #6 of YouTube Tuesdays, Jessarae gives us a little taste of what the Barnstormers fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium can expect. Batter up!
9/08/09
On the Week #5YouTube Tuesday video, Jessarae shows us what it means to be a starving artist. Well, not actually starving... just really, really hungry. Jessarae enlists the help of Evan, Melody and Jevon with this video in hopes of getting it done before the pizza got cold. And get it done they did. This week's song is something just wrote a couple of days ago called It Will Be Alright. So, as Jevon says, "Do your thing, man!..."
9/01/09
It'sYouTube Tuesday: Week #4! Already? Wow, time is just flying by with these videos. They're just so much fun to put together. This week is I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire, originally made popular by The Ink Spots in 1941. But more recently it has become popular again as the opening video to the Fallout 3 video game. As usual, Jessarae takes it and makes it his own...
8/25/09 Woof! It's YouTube Tuesday, Week #3! Jessarae performed this song live for the first time this past weekend and it literally stopped people in their tracks. This week's video is a cover of Tracy Chapman's Give Me One Reason.
And a special thanks to everyone who came out to Santa Monica on Saturday for the Echoes of Hope event. As always it was a great event for a great cause. Check out the pics below...
8/18/09
It'sYouTube Tuesday: Week #2! This week Jessarae is in New York but doesn't skip a beat as he offers up a classic. Dy'er Mak'er from Led Zeppelin.
8/12/09
Starting this week, Jessarae will be recording and uploading a new YouTube video every Tuesday for the next 20 weeks. Be sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel to see them right away. And if you have a request just drop us an email. You never know what song might be next.
Week #1: Jessarae gives us his version of Jack Johnson's Upside Down.
7/31/09
Jessarae has been invited to play at a benefit for Hot Summer's Night: An Evening to Benefit the 2009 Summer Night Lights Program (download event flyer here).
Tuesday, August 4 - 6-9 p.m. The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE
The Target Terrace
800 W. Olympic Blvd.
Los Angeles, 90015
The Summer Night Lights program extends the hours of operation at 16 recreation and park facilities to midnight and provides numerous activities free of charge to at-risk youth, including basketball and soccer leagues, clinics and youth arts activities. In 2008, the program had more than 50,000 visits, so they obviously need all the help they can get.
Jessarae is proud to be a part of this event and looks forward to seeing you there.
6/27/09 The Echoes of Hope event at The Palms in Las Vegas was amazing. A lot of money was raised for this great cause and hockey fans got to hang out with hockey legends past and future. Butterfly Boucher started the show with a great set and Gavin Rossdale ended the event with a set that included some of his new songs, some classic stuff from his days with Bush, and a brilliant version of Landslide. And watching Gavin Rossdale discuss the pitfalls of hockey goonery with Anaheim Ducks tough-guy George Parros was classic.
But stealing the show was our own Jessarae. The Las Vegas Sunhad this to say: "Jessarae stunned the crowd....the young, yet surprisingly articulate and talented performer began with a Johnny Cash cover but quickly worked in his own material while onstage. Later, he covered Led Zeppelin as the room looked on in amazement. “I’m mesmerized,” Palms owner, George Maloof, said as he watched the youngster perform."
We'll get some more pictures and hopefully some video up soon. It was an amazing evening and thanks to everyone who made it out.
6/12/09
We are very excited to announce that for the Keep Hope Alive charity event in Las Vegas on 6/19/09, Jessare will be sharing the stage with the one and only Gavin Rossdale! This is going to be an amazing event in a very intimate setting. Here's the flyer for the event. Butterfly Boucher will also be performing. If there are any tickets left, they won't be there for long so get them now.
6/11/09
